Low Tox Your Life

LOW TOX YOUR LIFE.

People regularly ask me

‘How do I switch my house from chemical to toxin free?’

‘Does using vinegar as fabric softener make your clothes smell?’

‘Will I miss bleach too much?’ (You might initially – it’s kind of like that ex-boyfriend, you missed him a little at the start but you know he was bad for you. There is something much better coming your way!)

I find it’s quite easy to switch to low-tox, it’s harder to shake the attachment to your old products.

You may not realise but by using these products you are inhaling them through your airways and they are being absorbed through the skin. Within 20 minutes of contact, the toxins can be found in every cell in your body.

How do I get started?

These are the products you are going to come to know and LOVE:

Bi-carb soda – softens /increases strength of cleaners / slightly abrasive

White vinegar – polishes / anti-bacterial / low PH / fabric softener

Essential oils*– polish / cleans / smells good

Cloths – Get a good range of cleaning clothes / brushes, this makes the work easier.

Extra's: doTERRA cleaner concentrate

Where I do I buy these products from?

Laundry Detergent: Organic stores*** / grocery stores** /online

Washing Detergent: Organic stores /grocery stores / online

Toilet cleaner: Organic stores or grocery stores or doTERRA cleaner concentrate or use washing detergent if organic stores don’t have a specialised ‘toilet cleaner’ – make your own with doTERRA cleaner concentrate or water down your dishwashing liquid and add some vinegar.

Essential oils: I order my essential oils and any doTERRA products through my online account; if you want to know more, contact me through here.

Cloths: You can grab eco cleaning cloths and brushes from your organic stores or you can check out https://seedsprout.com.au/

Bi-carb / White vinegar: Grocery stores / organic stores / online

What I have learnt: YOU DON’T NEED ALL THESE DIFFERENT PRODUCTS!

You can get away with very few! One spray and wipe can basically do every surface in your house – I use the DoTERRA cleaner concentrate. It comes in a 500mL bottle and you literally put a squirt of it in a spray bottle, add some filtered or boiled water or you can use an 11.5pH water - & Voila – spray and wipe. Easy to refill and always on hand - Plus it smells great, is chemical free and laden with beautiful essential oils!

Basic recipes & uses:

FLOORS: Cleaner concentrate / warm water

SOAKER: Bi-carb / cleaner concentrate / warm water

BENCHES: Spray and wipe

BATHROOM: Spray and wipe / soaker / home made toilet cleaner

POLISH: Vinegar, water & Lemon EO / polishing cloth

FABRIC SOFTENER: Vinegar or 11.5pH  / Lemon EO

FRUIT/ VEG SOAK: Bicarb & water or 11.5pH

This is a VERY basic over view of au natural cleaning.

*Why I like Lemon EO for cleaning – Cheap? Yes that is one reason– but – I love that fact but also it’s known for its grease cutting abilities – that’s why I recommend you add it to anything you need a little extra help with & it smells super FRESH) Click here to contact me about oils.

** When shopping at grocery stores look at the ingredients and see if they have stated ‘Naturally derived’ look out for  ‘fragrance’ (if they haven't stated where the fragrance came from, it's likely toxic)

***Organic stores in Wollongong who sell cleaning products:

Larger organic stores have a self-service cleaning section, where you can bring your own bottles and refill them with cleaning products. There is generally a whole range of products from floor cleaner to shampoos and conditioners.

Friendly stores I frequent in my local area (there is others):

Manic Organic, Woonona Princes Hwy (BYO Jars) Mon/Tues/Wed: 9.30-2.00

The Source, Wollongong Mall (BYO jars)

Taylors, Thirroul / Wollongong

**** Don’t underestimate the convenience of ordering things off the Internet! If you cant find or don’t want to go out and buy these things, find a good website and order through them!
